BS in Animal Behavior, CPDT-KA and FFCP
Hi everyone! I've always had a calling for working with animals and in 2014, acquired my BS in Animal Behavior from the University of New England. After many years of working at wildlife rehabilitation centers, wolf sanctuaries and at animal shelters, I realized pretty quickly that helping people better understand how their dog(s) communicates was the most rewarding. So, I furthered my education by obtaining my CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed) and FFCP (Fear Free Certified Professional) certifications. These certifications mean that I am dedicated to using the most modern science-based humane training methods. My goal with clients is to use my positivity, knowledge of behavior and training skills to improve your human canine relationship. Together, we will create a training or behavior modification plan focusing on your goals all while strengthening the foundation of trust, communication and a mutual understanding for one another. In my spare time, Tuna, Toast and I are usually outside either skiing in the backcountry, camping, hiking, rafting or lounging at home.
At Dogma, we use humane, modern, positive reinforcement (+R), and fear free training methods geared toward each individual dog, family and lifestyle. We hope that by working with Dogma, you and your dog(s) will have a better understanding of each other and be able to communicate more efficiently and effectively.
Our philosophy of dog training and behavior starts with a holistic view of the dog and client. We have a vision of creating a cohesive community of dog lovers who are better educated about dog body language and can recognize their dogs as individuals. Our mission is to provide assistance to all clients while applying a humane approach and cultivating better communication and relationships between people and their four legged family members.
We abide by LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) protocol: a code of ethics that all certified professional dog trainers abide by. For more information on LIMA, click here.
Dogma will NOT use physical corrections, electric shock collars, prong collars, choke collars, out dated training methods or other aversive training tools/methods when working with your dog(s). If you are currently using these training methods and are open to learning a different approach, Dogma is happy to work with you!
